A train to Abu Dhabi you can actually book: Dh39 and a 6.14am alarm
The Dubai to Abu Dhabi train has stopped being a rendering and started being a booking. Etihad Rail put tickets on sale this week for the 30 September launch from the new Al Yalayis station, and the fares are the part I'd look at first: Dh39 in Comfort, Dh109 in Premium, bookable on the Etihad Rail website and app. If you drive to an Abu Dhabi office even twice a week, put Dh39 each way next to what that drive really costs you in fuel, tolls and patience before the month is out. The fare is the news here, because it turns the train from a novelty into a line on your monthly budget.
The timetable is thinner than the fare suggests. On opening day, per The National, the first train leaves Al Yalayis at 6.14am and reaches Abu Dhabi at 7.18am, five trains make the round trip, and the last train from Dubai gets into Abu Dhabi at 19:18 while the last one back reaches Dubai at 18:47. So if your working day runs late, plan around the return leg first. Getting to Al Yalayis needs a plan too. Khaleej Times reports that a dedicated pedestrian bridge linking the station to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro station on the Red Line is still under construction, and that passengers will be able to use nol cards across metro, bus, taxi and rail. Before your first trip, check with Etihad Rail how you'll get from the Metro or the car park to the platform on 30 September.
Put this next to the last fortnight and a run shows up. Abu Dhabi cut the E311 to 100km/h from 14 September, and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) opened the upgraded Oud Metha to Al Asayel corridor on 20 September. That is a speed rule and a finished inner-city corridor in the space of a week, both changing how you get around and out of Dubai, and the train is the only one of them that takes you off the road altogether. My read: book one trip in the first week, even if you go back to the car afterwards, because you'll only know whether Dh39 and a 6.14am alarm fit your week once you've done it.
WHAT TO DO

Book on the Etihad Rail app or website before 30 September, and choose your return train at the same time: there are only five round trips on day one, and the last one back reaches Dubai at 18:47.

1 The government T-Sukuk opens today: 5.06% for five years, from Dh1,000
The Ministry of Finance's second retail T-Sukuk takes subscriptions from today until 28 September: a five-year sovereign instrument paying 5.06% a year, with profit paid twice a year, a Dh1,000 minimum and a Dh50 million target, open to UAE nationals and residents. You need an Investor Number (NIN) first, then you order through the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) eIPO platform, the iVestor app, the DFM app or a receiving bank's digital channels, with Emirates NBD as lead bank; allocation is 29 September, excess money comes back by 30 September and it lists on Nasdaq Dubai on 1 October. It's five-year money, not rainy-day money, so only commit what you won't need before then (information, not advice).
 
2Dubai's 10 days of mourning: what changes this week
Dubai Media Office confirmed 10 days of mourning from 21 September for Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with flags at half-mast, and the Dubai Fountain show has been suspended until further notice. Condolences are being received at the Zaabeel Majlis today and Thursday from 10am until dhuhr prayer, and again after asr prayer until maghrib. If you'd planned a Downtown evening around the Fountain, check before you go, because there's no official date yet for the shows to return.
 
3Iran's Hormuz offer comes with an 'if' in the middle of it
Iran has offered, through mediators, to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if Washington eases military pressure and ends its blockade of Iranian ports, Kyodo and Reuters reported citing a senior Iranian official, with the proposal delivered six days before Tuesday's reports. Marco Rubio told NBC: "We're open to that. I don't think anything is scheduled at this point," and President Pezeshkian is due to address the UN General Assembly today. For travel, Dubai Airports says up to 36 weekly European flights return from 25 October, starting with Lufthansa to Munich and Frankfurt, but Air Arabia and flydubai were still cancelling some Bahrain, Saudi and Kuwait flights on Tuesday, so check your booking before you leave for the airport.
   
WHAT IT MEANS
30 September is a filing deadline as well as a train launch
If your company's financial year ended on 31 December 2025, the Federal Tax Authority says your Corporate Tax return is due, and any tax paid, by 30 September 2026, one week from today. The trap for freelancers and small firms is Small Business Relief: if revenue is not above Dh3 million you can elect it, but only inside the return, and the FTA is explicit that being eligible does not remove the obligation to file. No tax due is not the same thing as nothing to file.
So the same date carries the first train from Al Yalayis, the Corporate Tax deadline and the T-Sukuk refunds. If you hold a small trade licence, I'd get the return filed before you book the train (information, not tax advice).

Up to 36 flights a week between Dubai and European cities return from 25 October (Lufthansa), then SWISS Zurich from 27 October, Eurowings Berlin, Stuttgart and Cologne-Bonn from 1 November and Austrian Vienna from 12 December, per Dubai Airports via Gulf News.
