April fuel prices land today. The number everyone has been bracing for.

The UAE Fuel Price Committee announces April 2026 prices today, Tuesday March 31. They take effect tomorrow, Wednesday April 1. If you filled your tank yesterday after reading our brief, good timing. If not, today is the last day at March prices.

Here is where prices stand right now. Super 98: Dh2.59 per litre. Special 95: Dh2.48. E-Plus 91: Dh2.40. Diesel: Dh2.72. Those numbers have been steady all month. They are about to move.

Brent crude averaged roughly $107 to $115 per barrel through March. That is a 55% monthly surge, the largest since Brent futures were created in 1988. March opened at $72.87. It closed around $115. The committee's formula uses monthly Brent averages, not spot prices, which smooths out the late-March spike somewhat. But a 55% underlying move does not smooth into nothing.

Predictions split two ways. Gulf News reported Sunday that prices are "unlikely to drop sharply," suggesting they stay close to March levels or move slightly higher. The National and other outlets projected Dh3.20 to Dh3.70 for Super 98 if the full Brent surge passes through. A 54% oil increase does not translate one-to-one at the pump, but a meaningful jump is expected either way.

If Super 98 crosses Dh3.00, that is a 16% single-month increase, the largest since the pricing deregulation formula was introduced. Every fill-up, every Careem ride, every delivery fee. Diesel affects every truck on Sheikh Zayed Road, which means it affects every shelf at Carrefour.

The Dubai International Vertiport at DXB reaches its March 31 completion target today. Three storeys, 3,100 square metres, capacity for 42,000 landings and 170,000 passengers annually. It is the first of four vertiports planned for Dubai.

The operator is Joby Aviation, partnered with RTA. Commercial service launches Q4 2026 as "Uber Air powered by Joby." Electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, zero emissions, designed to cut 45-minute ground journeys to under 10 minutes. Phase one connects DXB, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah, with additional sites at American University of Dubai, Atlantis the Royal, and Dubai Mall planned.

A city building flying taxi infrastructure while its airport still runs at 70% capacity due to ongoing interceptions. That tension captures where Dubai sits right now: simultaneously managing a crisis and building for a future that assumes the crisis ends.

2  Dh1 billion in economic support starts tomorrow. Here is what it covers.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed approved the package on Sunday via the Dubai Executive Council. Five initiatives, effective Wednesday April 1, running three to six months.

Hotel fee deferrals. 100% of sales fees and Tourism Dirham postponed for three months. Hotels have been hit hardest, with tourism-dependent sectors reporting 40 to 60% revenue declines since February 28.

Customs grace periods. Extended from 30 to 90 days, with further extensions possible. Directly helps importers managing container delays from the Strait disruption.

Virtual Warehouses Initiative. Facilitates temporary imports. Artwork gets duty exemptions and a three-year suspension on private art duties. Niche, but signals Dubai protecting its gallery and auction positioning.

The economic context: Dubai reported 6.4% growth in Q4 2025, full-year GDP up 5.4% to Dh937 billion. The package is defensive, not panicked.

3  Distance learning just got pushed to April 17. Parents, recalibrate.

The Ministry of Education extended distance learning to Friday April 17 for all nurseries, kindergartens, and public and private schools nationwide. The previous target was April 3. That date is gone.

The extension applies to students, teachers, and administrative staff. It will be reviewed weekly, meaning April 17 could shift again. Schools wanting to return to in-person learning must submit individual applications to KHDA, reviewed case by case by MoE. No IB exams this year, with an alternative grading system announced.

The timeline so far: distance learning started March 2. Spring break was brought forward. Term 3 started March 23, online. April 3 was the target for classrooms. Now April 17. Working parents are managing six weeks minimum of home schooling, from March 2 through at least April 17. Childcare costs and productivity losses are cumulative. For IB students, the alternative grading announcement is another layer that parents need to understand for university applications.

Day 32. A month and a day in. The fuel number lands today. A billion dirhams of economic cushion starts tomorrow. Schools stay home two more weeks. And at DXB, a building designed for flying taxis stands finished while the airport overhead still operates under interception protocols. Dubai keeps building. The bills keep landing. One day at a time.
